Our consumer alerts page includes dog food, dog treat and product alerts and recalls. Old dogs with any type of disease or a weakened immune system are extremely susceptible to getting sick due to bacteria tainted dog foods.
So please, when you see an email come through from us regarding consumer alerts, please be sure to open it so that you are up to date on which foods and products are being recalled. We’ll keep you posted as we get the market withdraws and alerts.

10/5/15 K-9 Kraving Dog Food voluntarily issued a recall of their Chicken Patties Dog Food due to possible Salmonella & Listeria contamination. The product had ship dates between July 13 – July 17, 2015. Learn more at on the FDA notice.
10/01/15 Salix Animal Health recalls a lot of their “Good ‘N’ Fun – Beefhide Chicken Sticks” Dog Treats. Voluntary recall. See the FDA notice here.

7/7/15 Vita Essentials has issued a voluntary recall on 2 small batches of their beef tripe food. Read more here.
7/2/15 Maryland Dept. of Agriculture announced that they issued a stop sale order on Stella and Chewy’s freeze dried chicken patties for dogs. The patties tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. The lot number on the dog food packaging is: 111-15 and will have a “use by date of 4-23-16. Read more here.
5/28/15 Petsmart RECALLS Himalayan Ruff Roots dog chew toys due to metal contamination. Company warns to STOP USING the toys immediately. Here’s the report.
5/18/15 The FDA announced a recall on OC Raw dog food. Their turkey and produce frozen raw formula was recalled due to possible salmonella problems. Read the report.

12/24/14 According to the FDA here, a nationwide Recall on Chicken Vittle Dog Chews by Barkworthies® due to possible salmonella.
11/25/14 Natura Recall on EVO Grain Free Turkey and Chicken Formula for Cats & Kittens as well as Grain Free formula for Ferrets due to vitamin insufficiency. Source
8/26/14 PEDIGREE RECALL: If you purchased Pedigree dog food at a Dollar General store in Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee or Louisiana, then you need to check out this recall. By the way, I truly hope that you stop feeding your dog Pedigree. In my opinion, this is a bottom of the barrel food and your dog, your best friend deserves better.
5/27/14 3 oz. Bag of Lamb Crunchy’s made by Pet Center, Inc. located in California has been recalled because of the possibility of Salmonella contamination. Return the item to the store you bought it from. You can contact the company at this number for more information: 800-390-0575 .
5/14/14 Bravo® Announces a national recall on dog and cat foods as a precautionary measure due to the possibility of Listeria monocytogenes contamination. This organism can be deadly to kids, frail, elderly and anyone with a fragile immune system. Here’s the full report from the FDA.

10/23/13 We just received an FDA report this morning indicating that the agency has received more than 3,000 complaints since September 24, 2013 with regards to dogs and cats becoming sick and/or dying due to chicken, duck and sweet potato chews imported from China. In less than a month’s time, 580 dogs and cats have died. This is very serious! PLEASE DO NOT FEED YOUR PETS ANY PRODUCTS COMING FROM CHINA. 8/30/13 Purina has voluntarily recalled a limited amount of 3.5 bags of Purina ONE Beyond Adult Dry Formula (white Meat Chicken & Whole Barley Recipe because of a possible salmonella problem. See the FDA’s report here.
8/20/13 Virbac Iverheart Plus Heart Worm Medicine recalled due to several lots not containing enough Ivermectin to be effective. PetMD issued this report.
8/14/13 Proctor and Gamble recall on Eukanuba and Iams dry dog and cat foods. The recall is due to the potential of salmonella contamination. No reported cases of pet related illnesses according to the FDA. Get all the details related to the P&G recall here.
6/24/13 Abady Frozen Dog Food recall. The company has issued a recall on two of their frozen formulas including Abady Frozen High Stress/High Performance Dog Food 3 lbs and
the Frozen Growth Formula for Puppies of the Large & Giant Breed 3 lbs. You can check out the actual recall letter at this link.
4/18/13 California Natural Pet Food recalled. Specific lots of Innova, EVO, Karma, California Natural, Healthwise and Mother Nature Biscuits have been recalled for salmonella reasons. See more here.
4/19/13 Natura Pet had to extend their recall even more. The first recall was on March 18 and they expanded the list on March 30th and they are now expanding the list of foods being recalled, even further. The problem is possible salmonella contamination and the recall now includes ALL dry pet foods and treats made before and including 3/24/14. 4/16/13 Breeders Choice is recalling a single lot of their Active Care Healthy Joint biscuits. Mold was discovered in one batch. Here’s the product info: Product code is BCP-080, upc code: 0130104895, best by 12-13-2013. For more info. call (866) 500-6286.
4/3/13 Bravo Raw Diet has expanded their recall adding 3 additional dog & cat food formulas. They are taking precaution with regards to salmonella. Read their actual recall notice.
3/30/13 Natura California Natural Pet Food HAS EXPANDED their initial recall. The list of foods is pretty extensive now because foods may be potentially tainted with salmonella bacteria. Here’s what the FDA says.
3/29/13 BARF DIET brand lamb patties and combo patties are voluntarily taken off the shelves for salmonella contamination. Haven’t heard from the FDA yet, but found about the recall here.
3/26/13 Virbac recalls a SINGLE lot of Iverhart Chewables. This is a heartworm prevention medicine and this particular lot apparently was not affective in protecting against heartworms. The companys’ own testing showed these results. The lot # is 110482 (Large, 50.1 – 100 lbs) which can be found on the box. Learn more.
3/18/13 Iams is voluntarily recalling their “Shakeables Turkey and Lamb” due to the potential for the growth of mold! There are 10 lots affected. Petsmart has the details listed here.
3/18/13 Natura issues precautionary voluntary recall on California Natural, Innova, EVO and Healthwise dry dog, cat & ferret foods after salmonella was found in a 2.2lb pkg of their EVO Turkey & Chicken formula of cat food.Here’s the details.
3/13/13 Recall on Frozen Bravo 2lb. Chicken Blend Raw Diet that’s made for both cats and dogs. It’s their only formula being recalled due to the fact that it may be tainted with salmonella bacteria. See the FDA’s official notice here.
3/6/13 Jones Natural Chews says it’s recalling their Woofers Beef Patties due to “yes” you guessed it; possible salmonella contamination. We never received a notice from the FDA on this recall. Instead, we heard about it through the grape vine, so to speak. Here’s their recall notice page for more information.
3/10/13 Diamond Pet Foods recalled several formulas of cat food. Formulas include Premium Edge, Diamond Naturals and 4 Health Dry Cat Food. Reason being; possible low levels of B1. Read more.
3/07/13 Diggin Your Dog placed a voluntary recall on their Strippin Chicks that were sold in Colorado & Nevada. A sample showed potential salmonella bacteria. Read on.
3/07/13 Steve’s Real Food voluntarily recalled their Turducken Patties (5 pound bags) because they may be contaminated with “salmonella”. Find out more.
2/25/13 Hyvee Dog Food voluntarily recalls six different lots of foods. The company was doing routine testing and found high levels of aflatoxin; a chemical found in corn. Here’s what the FDA is saying.

1/11/13 Milo’s Kitchen has now FINALLY recalled their Chicken Jerkey & Chicken Grillers from shelves because of small amounts of antibiotic debris found in the treats. These jerky treats are also linked to many dogs becoming very sick and even dying in some cases. For more information, call Milo’s Kitchen at 1-877-228-6493.
1/9/13 Nestle Purina finally pulls Waggin Train Chicken Jerky from the shelves because antibiotic leftovers were found within the treats. In the past year, many illnesses and dog deaths have been linked to these treats. If you would like additional help or a refund, call their Consumer Affairs at 1-800-982-0704 or you can also visit http://www.waggintrainbrand.com But,who knows for how long. But, beware Milo’s Kitchen and Canyon Creek Ranch chicken jerkey as well. They too are included in the blame for over 1,000 dogs getting severely ill as well as dying. The last I heard, over 300 dogs have died due to chicken jerky coming from China. I called Costco earlier last year to complain that they carried this product with no warnings at all. They said that there’s “no proof”. Well, when dogs get sick and die from eating the same product; I’d say that’s pretty good proof. 9/21/12 American Bully Sticks are being recalled according to the FDA. A product sold at TARGET stores called Boots & Barkley and comes in a 6 pack of 5″ Bully Sticks. 8/12/12 PETCO RECALL of STAINLESS DOG FOOD BOWLS DUE TO RADIATION!!Petco has recalled certain stainless steel dog food bowls due to RADIATION contamination – Cobalt60 apparently produces gamma ray radiation. Return these immediately or if you choose not to, it is recommended that you place the bowl in a trunk very far away from you and your family. KEEP AWAY FROM SMALL CHILDREN! It takes 5 years for the contamination to wear off.
