About Me – Janie Knetzer
Hi, my name is Janie Knetzer and I’m the author of old-dog-treats-and-rawhide.com
It’s such a pleasure to have you visit my website.
This picture was taken in 2009 and includes me, our yellow lab “Lulu” and our doberman “Jenna”.
Unfortunately since this picture was taken, we lost Lulu suddenly on June 30, 2010 at 16 years old. So much of this website was based upon our Lulu’s life and her wonderful spirit.
But, Here’s A Little About Me The Author
I’m happily married to my high school sweetheart who is also a dog lover. You might notice that throughout my website I sometimes say “I” and sometimes say “we”. The reason for this is that my husband has been and still is a very instrumental part of caring for our dog’s which is where the “we” comes in. Anyway, being a dog lover and being married to a dog lover like me, gives that term a whole new meaning. heehee 😉
I’ve always been extremely passionate about dogs in general including their behavior and what makes them tick. My brother brought home my first puppy when I was around 8 years old and that was it; I was hooked!
Most people that know me well all agree that “I missed my calling in life to be a Veterinarian”. I DO NOT have a degree as a Veterinarian, but I work hard to share as much knowledge as I can and directly impact how people value their dogs. Actually, I should rephrase that to how people value their pets and all animals. I read and continuously educate myself about dogs whenever I can.
In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a real stickler about canine nutrition and the close relationship it has on the health and longevity of dogs. I often coach dog owners who need nutritional guidance for their family dog.
I also like to rescue all of my dog’s either from local shelters or rescue groups. I love dogs period and breed means very little to me. However, we recently adopted another dog after the loss of our sweet Lulu. Her name is “Maggie” and she is a yellow lab just like Lulu. Maggie was an outside dog, so I managed to accomplish one of my many goals by rescuing a dog that spent her life outside. Maggie loves her new life.
